Who We Are

The core mission of NIOS aligns with the founding principle of the Bhagavata Purana: “to distinguish reality from illusion for the common good .” This premise suggests that social ills stem from the illusion that arises from the false ego, believing ourselves to be the masters and controllers of everyone and everything, including nature. Addressing these challenges sustainably involves, from our perspective, fostering and practicing the Cultivation of the Human Spirit . This process begins with recognizing our eternal spiritual essence and understanding that the material body is merely a temporary shell.

The North American Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies (NIOS) was founded on January 12, 2004, in Tennessee, USA. We are a nonprofit educational institution whose purpose is to build bridges between East and West. We are dedicated to taking the best of the PAST, applying it to the PRESENT, and building a better FUTURE for all .

NIOS collaborates with renowned universities in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, contributing to both the academic and cultural spheres. Through education, we promote the elevation of consciousness by spreading and practicing universal values such as Truthfulness, Solidarity, Mercy, and Cleanliness. These principles are fundamental to cultivating a new culture based on a common cause: the respiritualization of all human society . This is the true foundation for achieving lasting peace, friendship, and prosperity.
