International Symposium on Ecology and the Sacred – Opening

Today, humanity faces a number of urgent challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and air and water pollution. These problems lead to the scarcity of natural resources and increase health risks, including the emergence of new diseases.

This critical situation is rooted in the rampant abuse and destruction of nature by some individuals and businesses. This reality reflects a lack of ecological and spiritual awareness. Faced with this challenging situation, the International Symposium on Ecology and the Sacred seeks to promote sustainable and practical solutions.

These alternatives include adopting a sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle, encompassing practices such as vegetarianism, the responsible use of natural resources, and the protection of biodiversity. These actions are based on the principles of īśāvāsyam (acceptance of what is necessary for a life of dignity, avoiding excess and superficial and artificial luxuries) and ahimsa (nonviolence).

Through thoughtful and in-depth dialogue, we seek practical solutions that allow us to lovingly and responsibly care for the environment as an essential part of our relationship with Ecology and the Sacred . Everyone is cordially invited to participate.
